Flying is our craft. The web is theirs.
Running a paragliding operation at Kijabe means most of our working hours are spent reading wind, inspecting equipment and driving the Nairobi–Naivasha road. It does not leave much time for search rankings, page speed budgets or booking-form architecture.
So we did what we would advise any Kenyan business to do: we hired specialists. Techmetic designed and built this website from the ground up, and Ranking Kenya makes sure the people searching for paragliding in Kenya actually find it. Both are Kenyan firms, both work with businesses far outside adventure tourism, and both are worth knowing about if you are trying to solve the same problems we were.
Techmetic — who built this website
Techmetic is a Kenyan web design and development company that builds custom websites and business web applications rather than assembling templates. Everything you are looking at — the booking system, the admin dashboard, the media library, the structured data feeding Google — was written specifically for how this business actually operates.
What mattered to us was that they started with questions instead of a mockup: how do bookings reach the team, who updates the photographs, what happens when a flight is cancelled, how does someone with a poor mobile connection at the Kijabe launch still get the site to load. The answers shaped the build.
Custom website design
Bespoke design and front-end build — no page-builder bloat, no theme licence to renew.
Web applications
PHP and MySQL systems: booking engines, dashboards, inventory, member portals.
E-commerce development
Online stores and payment integrations built for the Kenyan market.
Performance & hosting
Fast, secure, maintainable code and ongoing support after launch.
A website nobody finds is a brochure in a drawer. A website people find but cannot use is worse.
Techmetic solved the second problem. Ranking Kenya solved the first.
Ranking Kenya — who makes it findable
Ranking Kenya is a Kenyan SEO and digital marketing agency. They handle the search side of this website: the technical optimisation, the local search presence, the content strategy behind our journal, and the ongoing work of staying visible for the phrases people actually type when they are looking for paragliding in Kenya.
Adventure tourism is a competitive search category with a lot of aggregator sites bidding for the same attention. Being a small operator with a genuinely better product counts for nothing if a traveller planning a Nairobi weekend never sees your name. That is the gap they close.
Technical SEO
Site architecture, crawlability, structured data, Core Web Vitals and index health.
Local SEO
Google Business Profile, local citations and map-pack visibility across Kenyan searches.
Content strategy
Search-led editorial planning — the reason our journal answers real questions.
Analytics & reporting
Tracking that shows which searches turn into actual booking requests.
Build it properly, then make sure it is found
Development and SEO are usually sold separately and then blame each other. Splitting the work this way only worked because both sides agreed on the same technical foundation before a single page was designed.
Structure first
Clean semantic HTML, one H1 per page, a real heading hierarchy, descriptive alt text on every image, and canonical URLs. Techmetic built it in; Ranking Kenya specified it.
Speed as a feature
The page renders before the photography downloads. Images sit in pre-sized frames so nothing jumps around as they arrive, which protects both the reading experience and the layout-shift score.
Structured data
Schema.org markup describes the business, its location, its flights, its articles and its FAQ answers so search engines can present them as rich results.
Content that answers questions
The journal and FAQ exist because people genuinely ask those questions before booking. Useful pages rank; padded pages do not.
A dashboard the owner can use
Photographs, prices, articles and settings are all editable without touching code, which means the site stays current instead of ossifying six months after launch.
Measurement
Booking requests are tracked back to the search that produced them, so effort goes where it converts rather than where it feels productive.
Would we recommend them? Yes — and here is the useful version of that.
If you run a business in Kenya and your website is either embarrassing you or invisible, those are two different problems with two different fixes. Talk to Techmetic about the first and Ranking Kenya about the second. If both apply, they already know how to work together, which saves you refereeing the conversation.
And if you would rather talk about wind and wings than websites — that is our side of the arrangement. Come and fly.
